Steve Norris was a Conservative Member of Parliament from 1983 -1997 and from 1992 – 1996 he was Minister for Transport with special responsibility for London, for local roads and road safety.  During his time in office he pushed for greater involvement of technology via ITS-UK and has been involved in transport technology since not least as President of ITS-UK.   He chaired the Prince Michael International Road Safety Awards for many years.  He was a founding director of ITIS Holdings which developed cellular floating vehicle data and was subsequently sold to Inrix and of Speed Check Services, developers of the life-saving average speed camera technology later sold to Lloyds Development Capital.  He is currently a director of NYSE-listed Cubic Corporation, developers of automated collection systems such as the London Oyster card.  He is Chairman of Highways UK and is a frequent speaker on the subject of urban mobility and Next City vision.
